Am I “too old” to start learning piano or voice?

First of all, that’s a big, mean (and silly) myth (read about piano and voice myths).

As long as you have the desire and curiosity to learn, you can never be too old to learn piano or voice.  And for voice lessons, since the voice is continuously developing, it is actually better that students are not too young as voices of young students are still under-developed, very delicate, have physical limitations, and more prone to damage if not taken care of properly.

When I complete one (1) 4-lesson plan, does that mean I can immediately go to the next level?

No. The 4-lesson plan arrangement is designed only for your convenience and is not indicative of the speed you progress.

Piano: Advancing to the next piano level depends on awareness of your habits, asking questions, patience, perseverance, practice, and an ability to demonstrate proficiency of your current Level requirements.

Voice: Advancing to the next voice level differs from how you advance in piano because your voice is continuously developing. You must be able to demonstrate healthy vocal habits and proficiency in singing technique, breathing, breath support, posture, tone quality, articulation, sight-singing, and ear-training that is required of your voice level.

How long will it take before I can move onto the next level?

You know what they say, anything that’s worthwhile takes time, patience, and determination.

Are lessons also available for teenagers and children?

Teaching adults is definitely our thing, but don’t worry!  Our teachers are also very experienced and love teaching teenagers and children.

If you have the desire, focus, and curiosity to learn, then you’re more than ready to get started in piano or voice.

At what age can my child start learning piano or voice?

For piano lessons, we accept students starting at 4 years old, but each student is different and it mainly depends on the student’s ability to sit still and focus for at least half and hour.

For voice lessons, students must be at least 10 years old. Very young voices are under-developed, are very delicate, and have physical limitations. Students need to understand how to handle their voice with great care, maturity, and focus when taking instruction. If a young child under 10 years old were to take lessons, they will only be taught to enjoy singing and learn good basic habits. However, they will not be able to start serious vocal training until their voice has further developed and matured.

What if I need to reschedule?

Please refer to Rescheduling section of the PianoVerse Policy.

Do you have recitals? Are they mandatory?

Yes, we have recitals. Participation is not mandatory but highly recommended.  If you like taking on challenges, trying new things, and have a real desire for personal growth, this is a perfect event for you! PianoVerse teachers and staff will help you understand everything you need to know about what to expect from a recital experience.

Do you have someone who can tune my piano?

We have a roster of piano tuners (unaffiliated with PianoVerse) that we can refer to you. Contact us and we’ll set up an appointment for you.
